Marina Gadonneix – Disorder Simulation

Opening: 08. 12. 2009., 20:00

Marina is a devoted to staged spaces and simulations. Similarly to her previous series, she photographs spaces “ready for action” in her Disorder Simulation project.

We have seen her photographs of vacated TV studios, blue boxes waiting to be deployed, simulated spaces. For her latest project she shoots on locations reserved for the authorities, such as military and police practice ranges. The landscapes in the photos are simulated sites of terrorist attacks, criminal offences and catastrophes. Uniformed people practice on such sites all over the world in order to prepare for the worst.

Marina Gadonneix attempts to outline a panorama of the fears afflicting our age and culture. Where and what are we afraid of today? A fire here, a car bomb there, gas attacks and shootings everywhere. The photographs are representations of set-up spaces, evidences of catastrophes and crimes yet to occur.
